Pets Welcome!

A Dog Friendly Cottage

A dog friendly holiday cottage in Devon

North Devon is a great place to take your dog on holiday, with miles and miles of footpaths, woodland walks and some great beaches for bracing walks.

We therefore welcome well-behaved dogs at Barnfield. Guests may bring up to three dogs with them at a cost of £25 per animal per booking. They’ll have a terrific time, whether dashing into the waves on the beach, walking across Exmoor and paddling in the many local streams and rivers.

Whether you want a pleasant 30-minute morning or evening walk or a 2-hour ramble across fields and through woods, there are walks from the front door. Wander down the lane, a steep calorie-burning hill that leads to bridle paths and woodland walks, or stroll up through the village where they’ll probably make a couple of canine friends during a circuit or two of the Millennium Green and Community Woodland. There’s also a village shop on the way to the Green that stocks pet food.

There are likely to be sheep or other livestock in the local fields and, although you won’t always see them, deer in the woods, so unless your pet is trained to avoid the temptation of a chase, you’ll need to keep them on a lead when livestock are present.

If you have an indoor kennel for your dog there is plenty of space on the ground floor to accommodate it. Otherwise place their bed in front of the woodburner or by the stove in the kitchen to ensure they enjoy a warm and snug night’s sleep at any time of year.
