Guestbook

6 adults, 5 kids and 2 dogs: we all settled in nicely with plenty of room in a comfortable home in North Devon. Beautiful area and we enjoyed a week's exploring in excellent weather. Going home after a lovely break.

The Wilkinson's, Lindsey's and Baxter's - Leicester,

We had a fantastic time at Barnfield. My husband and myself were lucky enough to have the downstairs bedroom and I loved the mornings whilst getting ready with the doors wide open. Apart from one day, we were very lucky with the weather although I've heard you have a heat wave coming!

Donna Long. July 2017

Donna Long,

We have loved staying at this extremely well-equipped cottage. From the Tesco delivery on arrival the weekend ran smoothly and great fun was had by all, walking and visiting the North Devon coast. We would not hesitate to return to Barnfield Cottage again. Thank you.

The Ross Family, Bristol,

What a fantastic cottage! Beautiful rooms, lovely homely feel to the place and everything we needed. Bratton Fleming is a very friendly village judging by the people we met on our dog walks locally. Can recommend the Black Venus pub in Challacombe who made us and our two dogs welcome on a Saturday night no less! Walks around Whistpoundland Reservoir - a real hidden gem!

The Bruno's, Bristol,

This house is amazing! Beautiful rooms and splendid views. A fantastic weekend. Loved the homely feeling. Look forward to coming back.

The Apps, Shakespeare and Parkhouse family,

Many thanks for our stay in your fabulous cottage. The Boys really enjoyed the Games Room. We all had great nights in front of the woodburning stove. Beautiful countryside also a pleasure. We did one of the circular walks from the leaflet in the Welcome Book.

Helen Harding, Weymouth,

We had a very enjoyable stay. Felt at home, comfortable and relaxed, finding everything we could possibly need - and more! We made the most of the weather, enjoying lovely circular walks around Lynton and the Valley of The Rocks, over Cointisbuty Hill to the lighthouse at Foreland Point and from The Hunter's Inn to Heddon's Mouth where we had a lovely Sunday lunch. Quite a fantastic weekend in fantastic accommodation and a helpful, friendly host.

Helen, Tony, Robyn (15) and Ollie (11), Dorchester,

We had a very enjoyable stay, felt very at home and relaxed with everything we could possibly need – and more! We made the most of the dry weather– a circular walk around Lynton and Valley of the Rocks, a walk over Countisbury Headland to the Lighthouse and down to Heddon’s Mouth. Lovely meal at the Black Venus in Challacombe. Overall a fantastic weekend. Fantastic accommodation and a helpful, friendly host. Thanks for having us!

Jacqui Warrender, Exeter,

Thank you so much for providing such a well-kept cottage which certainly felt like home. Lovely village and great access to the coastal walks. What a great place to be to send off 2016! January 2017

"We had a truly wonderful stay at Barnfield Cottage. The cottage itself is located in a quiet but easily accessible part of North Devon, the setting is idyllic and a perfect place to explore villages and towns nearby. We were very impressed when we arrived on a cold Friday night to find the cottage cosy and welcoming with everything we could have wished for. All the little details had been thought of we were delighted with our choice. We were a party of three families all with children, my husband and I with our beautiful 16 month old daughter.

The owners had provided us with a number of little extras just in case we had forgotten to pack some of the essentials for her, the thought was very much appreciated. The only consideration if you have a little one, just walking, is that there are quite a few steps located in the cottage which is something just to be mindful of, this wasn't too much of a problem we just had to be extra vigilant.

We would definitely recommend the cottage to anyone looking to stay in a beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting. Thank you!"

Tony and Ann, Swanage,

Wonderful week for a family get together in North Devon. So comfortable with everything we needed. Great walks through the Bratton Fleming woods locally as well as trips to Dunster, Lynmouth and Arlington Court. Fantastic! Thank you. May have to return for another lesson in flying an Aga!

We loved this quirky cottage, where the owners have generously stocked the house with childrens' toys, beach essentials, sports equipment , utensils and we have had a wonderful time here. Situated close to Saunton Sands, Croyde Bay and Combe Martin beacheds it is also well positioned to enjoy the beautiful countryside. We would come back her like a shot!

The cottage is a lovely base for exploring North Devon. All the rooms are lovingly presented, we especially enjoyed the comfortable lounge; the well resourced kitchen with large family kitchen table. The games room was a superb place for my teenage daughters to hang out. A great base to visit the beach at Woolacombe; the shopping at Barnstaple; and the cycling at Fremington Quay. Lovely owners too. Would highly recommend.

The most beautiful, quintessentially English, "chocolate box" cottage - the perfect place to escape at any time of the year.

I've been staying at Barnfield Cottage for a number of years - and I feel my shoulders drop as soon as I turn into the driveway. It is everything a cottage should be - beautiful thatched roof, wood burning fire for the evenings, handbuilt kitchen and the most gorgeous stove. I can't recommend Barnfield enough.
